St Lukes Hospital Utica NY history begins in 1869 when it was founded as St. Luke’s Home and Hospital on Whitesboro Street, providing care for the sick and underserved in the growing city. As Utica expanded, the hospital evolved to meet increasing demand, leading to a major rebuild in 1906 as St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital. Its mission remained rooted in community care while advancing with modern medical practices.

St Lukes Hospital Utica NY history entered a new era in 1949 with a merger forming St. Luke’s–Memorial Hospital Center, followed by the opening of a modern facility on Champlin Avenue in 1957. Over the decades, it became a cornerstone of healthcare in the Mohawk Valley before eventually becoming part of the Mohawk Valley Health System. In October 2023, services transitioned to the new Wynn Hospital, marking the end of an era for one of Utica’s most important medical institutions.
