Throughout its history, Hotel Utica hosted notable figures including President William Howard Taft, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Judy Garland, and Amelia Earhart, solidifying its place in Utica NY history. Expanded in 1926 and thriving through the mid-20th century, the hotel later declined before closing in 1972. After decades of preservation efforts and restoration, the building was revived and today operates as the DoubleTree by Hilton, continuing its legacy as one of Utica’s most recognizable historic landmarks.
