Historic St. Elizabeth Hospital building in Utica NY featured on Greater Utica Magazine September 2019 cover

The September 2019 cover of Greater Utica Magazine highlights the history of St. Elizabeth Hospital Utica NY, one of the region’s most important healthcare institutions. Founded on December 12, 1866, by the Sisters of St. Francis, the hospital began as a small mission on Columbia Street dedicated to caring for the poor, sick, and underserved.

As Utica grew, so did the hospital. In 1917, St. Elizabeth relocated to its prominent Genesee Street campus, where it expanded into a major regional medical center serving generations of patients across Central New York. Known for its compassionate care and strong community ties, the hospital became a cornerstone of healthcare in the Mohawk Valley.

For over 150 years, St. Elizabeth Hospital Utica NY played a critical role in advancing medical services, training healthcare professionals, and supporting the well-being of the community.
