As its programs expanded, the YMCA constructed a modern facility at 726 Washington Street, which opened in 1958. The YMCA’s influence extended beyond recreation, hosting civic gatherings and notable figures.

For more than 140 years, the Utica YMCA played a key role in shaping everyday life in the city. However, changing times and economic challenges led to the closure of its Washington Street location in March 2001.
