In my 2013 book, "Stories Forgotten Frankfort, NY", I included a chapter on the history of the founding of Union Fork & Hoe. I started working in the Engineering Department in 1963 and the influence of Roberts Hardware was prominent.
From my book:
When Union's Continental Works was created out of Continental Tool it inherited the sales and distribution network of Continental; the Roberts brothers of Utica, New York who had founded Continental were in the retail hardware business. After Continental Tool became a part of Union Fork and Hoe, the Roberts Hardware Company had a continuing strong business relationship with Union for over fifty years.
