My Mom grew up and continued to live on Harter Place after her marriage and my siblings and I were born from 1928 to 1966 . I also lived there the first 12 years of my life . As a teen she used to walk down Seward Avenue to her part time job on French Road - can’t remember what business . As a child when ever we drove or walked down Seward my mom would tell me how as a youth-she passed a POW camp. She said the soldiers were very polite when they were out in the camp yard . She was supposed to walk on the other side of Seward and got in trouble with my grandmother when it was found, she walked on the side that ran along the POW camp. I suppose she was just curious like many other Utica citizens.

On Burrstone Rd behind the Army reserve was a military hospital in WW2. Rhodes Hospital. In fact,I went to HS in NYM in the 60s and the gym we used on Ft Dix is a gym exactly like it.
